5th April
We drove to the Houston Airport had lunch and took the 2 ½ hour flight to Denver. As soon as we stepped outside we knew we were in for a cold trip- It was blowing an icy breeze.
Unfortunately Alamo Car rental were out of compacts (that we had organised) so we got up graded, the guy goes “any of them up there you can choose from, the keys are in the car”.
Well, we had never been given a choice before, decisions, decisions. After about 30 minutes we had decided on the Chev HHR (similar to the PT Cruiser) due to the large boot space.
Luckily we had hired a GPS (or we would have never made it to Vegas!). We found the Denver drivers were not as crazy as Houston.
We drove to our lovely old (recently refurbished) Hotel, the Crowne Plaza in the center of Denver.
We settled in and had a walk down the very picturesque Mall between horse drawn buggies and a free electric tram. We decided on Appapuloser for dinner and had a great dinner of Salmon and Ribs.
Denver seems to be a real party town at night, might have something to do with the coyote ugly bar?
By the time we had another walk up other end of the mall the temp had really dropped and we headed back to our warm hotel.
