Moab to Cortez

9th April

Had breakfast at the hotel then checked out and headed to a Western Shop we had seen advertised in Moab. We both ended up buying a pair each of Vintage cowboy boots. We then headed southeast. The snow started about 20 miles out.

Cherry blossum???

We stopped at a little town called Dove Creek for lunch at Pam's Diner. A whopping 7.50 for bowl of chill, fries and a hot chocolate - great quick service.

Snow

We kept driving through the snow, the roads kept mainly clear and only drooped to -2 DegC .......

Snow

We checked into the Best Western at Cortez. We walked across the road in the falling snow to the thrift shop (very Cheap here) and the City Market for a few snacks.

We decided to drive to Durango the closest big town (40 miles away) as the snow fall had almost stopped. Not such a good idea as the snow got even heavier and the roads got bad but we made it. We couldn't find the Walmart we were looking for and headed back.

Another driving through snow

We decided to get take out as we were buggered from the drive. Mikey got KFC and I got Taco Bell. Then Mikey went and had a swim in the Best Western heated pool, whilst I watched the Sci - Fi Channel.

We kept taking peaks outside of the room through the night, watching the weather get slowly worse.
