Ella Sieters

Our newest addition to the family….Ella Sieters.

Well, after originally having a technical hitch with picking Ella up.

Mikey picked her up from her Multi-mansion on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon.

She is now slumming it in our garage.

Lindy isn’t too impressed with our new arrival, but he will have to get use to his new little sister.

We had a very cool night, so she had her own lamp and little heater going all night, and Mickey got up at 2am to check on her (great maternal instinct!).

This morning she was bright as a button and wanted to play, if I tried to walk back into the house, she would jump on my right foot and roll around (look how cute I am). I ended up having to distract her with a toy to make my escape.

She was crying a lot when I left for work this morning (very heart breaking), so the sooner we can get her socialised with Lindy the better, as she will be lonely.

Wintersun 2007

Thursday
After a frantic morning of packing and organising, we finally got down to Coolangatta around 2pm. You could already feel the buzz in the air, the roar of the vintage cars as they went past and the first (of many) sightings of Elvis (this time on the back of a yellow knitted cardi, that those Rock n Rollers love to wear). Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!

This year we managed to get a great apartment at Point Danger, overlooking the beach. Sharing with Mark, Sue, Peter and Lesley. Two bathrooms and a big fridge (very important!).

Mikey and I went for a little wander around the unit and up to Coolangatta to get our Wintersun Program and a couple of Wintersun T-Shirts.

Back to the unit just in time for Mark and Sue to arrive. Had a few wines and got ready for the night. Mark and Sue went to the Civic Centre to see the Swing and we went to the Rockabilly Jamboree at Seagulls Club.

The stardust room was packed, standing room only. We saw 6 rockabilly bands (Big Kitty & The Scaredy Kats, The Satellites, Blue Denim, Wanda Jackson, The Go Getters, Slim Jim Phantom minus Slim Jim) caught up with a few friends, made some new ones and I drank way too much white wine. It was a great night out. Got home about Midnight.

Unfortunately I must have had one too many wines, as I didn’t sleep and prayed to the porcelain god till 6am.

Friday – The Vintage markets open
After shower make up, some vitamin B and raisin toast. We were off to the markets for some shopping albeit a bit slow. Mike bought a “Ricky Jacket” and cowboy hat. I bought a beautiful teal swing dress from our new friends at pinstripes and pokadots store. Colin also had his amazing two tone shoes, that he hand makes back in the UK, on display. That is one talented man; I would have bought 5 pairs if I was a bloke.

We went back to the unit for a bit of R and R, but it didn’t happen. Got ready for another big night. Peter and Lesley went to see The Creepers and the Satellites.

We went to the Four Seasons at Twin Towns with Mark and Sue for Dinner, then down stairs to see Blue Denim (again), caught up with Ken, Sharyn and Sharon. Had a couple of swing dances and a cha cha with Mark. Not too late of a night.
Saturday
Well, today winter arrived in fall force. It was blowing a gale; we were all rapped up in our winter woollies.
We left Peter and Lesley to sleep and the four of us headed down to the Snapper Rocks Surf Club. Great service and food. Then walked down to the free dance class, with Ken and Sharon. We headed back to the bands in the street did a quick scan of the vintage markets again and found a lovely summer dress that Mikey kindly bought for me, and then decided it was the perfect weather to watch a movie. So we went and watched Pirates of the Caribbean. By the time we got out again the wind had dropped a little and we walked back to the unit.

Sharon had been organising Ken’s surprise 50th Birthday, so we got dressed up to go out again, headed down to a little Indian place near Twin Towns. There were over 20 of us (half the restaurant). We had a great time; the food was great (except for the butter chicken).
Unbeknown to us, Ken isn’t a big drinker (or any drinker for that matter). All I can say is that he is a very happy and loving (everyone) drunk, great to see!

Sunday
A beautiful day, so hot we were worried about getting burnt. Spent the day walking around taking photo’s of the vintage cars and watching bands. Peter and Lesley headed off to the car auctions to see if they had any luck with a 1954 Holden FJ ute. Had a look around the Griffith Street shops and bought a few more things. Finally got to see Slim Jim Phantom at the Nightowl stage. Then headed back for 3pm for major hair reconstruction on Sue and Lesley (helpful hint, use heat when using setting spray – sorry Lesley).

Peter and Lesley opened a bottle of red when they got back, as they had got the ute they wanted at the auction!!!! Very Cool!!! Congratulations guys!!!

Then off to the Swing Ball of the year at the stardust room at Seagulls, with Benny and the Flyby Nighter’s and Harry Deluxe. Great Music. We all got to catch up with Dionne and Nick and other friends from Katz Korner.

Great night had by all!

Monday
Roll out of bed, pack up and clean up day. Finished off with us all at 28 Latitude CafĂ©, on the corner for breakfast. The best year yet! Just wanna say thank you to everyone, for a fabulous weekend. It wouldn’t have been the same without you all.

Song for the weekend “I’m a rockabilly rebel”.
